My ETH to TON Conversion Experience with ChangeNOW

Today is November 7th‚ 2025‚ and I’ve been actively exploring the world of cryptocurrency exchanges. Recently‚ I decided to diversify my portfolio and move some of my Ethereum (ETH) holdings into Toncoin (TON). I’ll share my personal experience‚ the platforms I used‚ and the challenges I encountered. It’s been quite a learning curve!

Why Toncoin?

I initially became interested in Toncoin due to its growing community and the potential of the TON blockchain. I read about its scalability and the innovative features being developed‚ and I wanted to get involved. I also noticed that the exchange rate‚ while fluctuating‚ seemed to offer a potential for growth.

The Exchange Rate Rollercoaster

As the information from various sources confirms‚ the ETH to TON exchange rate is constantly changing. When I first started looking at this conversion about a week ago‚ I saw rates around 1 ETH = 1‚805.43 TON. However‚ as of today‚ the rate seems to have settled around 1 ETH = 1‚757.44 TON. I did notice a dip to around 1‚720.13 TON a couple of days ago‚ which made me a little hesitant‚ but ultimately I decided to proceed with a small conversion.

My Chosen Platform: ChangeNOW

After researching several platforms‚ I decided to use ChangeNOW for my ETH to TON conversion. I chose them because of their advertised speed‚ security‚ and privacy. They also boasted low fees‚ which is always a plus. I’ve used other exchanges before‚ and I found ChangeNOW’s interface to be relatively straightforward.

The Conversion Process ⎻ Step by Step

  1. Setting up a Wallet: First‚ I made sure I had a secure Toncoin wallet. I opted for the official Tonkeeper wallet‚ which I downloaded and set up with a strong password and securely stored my seed phrase.
  2. Initiating the Swap: On ChangeNOW‚ I selected Ethereum as the currency to send and Toncoin as the currency to receive.
  3. Entering the Amount: I decided to start small and convert 0.5 ETH. I entered the amount and ChangeNOW displayed the estimated amount of TON I would receive.
  4. Providing Wallet Addresses: I carefully entered my Ethereum sending address and my Toncoin receiving address. This is crucial! A single mistake here could result in losing your funds. I double-checked everything.
  5. Confirming the Transaction: ChangeNOW showed me a confirmation screen with all the details. I reviewed everything one last time and confirmed the transaction.
  6. Waiting for Confirmation: The conversion took about 15-20 minutes. I monitored the transaction status on ChangeNOW and on the Ethereum blockchain explorer.
  7. Receiving TON: Finally‚ the TON appeared in my Tonkeeper wallet!

Fees and Slippage

While ChangeNOW advertised low fees‚ there were still fees involved. I paid a network fee for the Ethereum transaction and a small service fee to ChangeNOW. The total fees were around 0.002 ETH. I also noticed a slight difference between the estimated amount of TON and the actual amount I received‚ which I believe was due to slippage – the difference between the expected price and the actual price at the time of the transaction.

Challenges I Faced

I did encounter one minor issue. The Ethereum network was quite congested at the time of my transaction‚ which caused the confirmation time to be longer than expected. I was a little worried at first‚ but everything eventually went through smoothly. I also found it a bit confusing to understand the different types of Ethereum networks (like ZkSync Era and OP) that ChangeNOW supported. I stuck with the standard Ethereum network to avoid any complications.

Final Thoughts

Overall‚ my experience converting ETH to TON with ChangeNOW was positive. The process was relatively straightforward‚ and the platform seemed secure. However‚ it’s important to be aware of the fluctuating exchange rates‚ network fees‚ and potential slippage. I‚ Amelia Hayes‚ would recommend doing your own research and starting with a small amount to get comfortable with the process before converting larger sums. I’m cautiously optimistic about Toncoin and plan to continue monitoring its performance.
